The chips are down: How store-bought chocolate chip cookies stacked up

May 2009 and June 2009

As much as Donna Reed led us to believe it, not every day is made for homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Some days -- most days -- store-bought chocolate chips cookies will do just fine for an after-school snack or after-dinner treat.

In its June issue, Consumer Reports rates 13 packaged chocolate chip cookies to see how they stack up in terms of cost, calories and fat.

The winner was a supermarket staple, Keebler Chips Deluxe Original.

Here are the results. For full details, check out the June issue of Consumer Reports.
